Bowling Green's first 4 games will be key to continuing improvement

BOWLING GREEN — With one quick glance at the Bowling Green State University football schedule, one thing is immediately clear.

The non-conference slate will significantly challenge the rebuilding Falcons.

"Those first four games are extremely challenging, in my opinion," Bowling Green coach Scot Loeffler said. "We'll learn some lessons during that time period, I'm sure, and then play as competitively as we can possibly play in the MAC."

The non-conference gauntlet starts on Sept. 3 at UCLA against coach Chip Kelly and the Bruins. It is the first meeting between the teams. BGSU’s improved defense will have its hands full against former Michigan running back Zach Charbonnet, who rushed for 1,137 yards and 13 touchdowns last year at UCLA.
