KALAMAZOO, Mich. — The Bowling Green State University women's basketball team trailed for most of the game and fell 72-64 to Western Michigan on Wednesday night at Read Fieldhouse/University Arena.
Western Michigan took a 17-14 lead after one quarter and a 31-25 lead at halftime, before using a narrow fourth-quarter edge to put the game away after an even third quarter.
Amy Velasco had 18 points to lead Bowling Green, while Nyla Hampton scored 10.
Taylor Williams paced Western Michigan with 21 points, Lauren Ross scored 17, and Maddie Watters had 14 points.
Western Michigan had a big edge in 3-point shooting, making 10 of 18 from beyond the arc, compared to just 4 of 15 for Bowling Green.
