Bowling Green running backs looking to pick up slack after Stewart’s announcement

BOWLING GREEN — Terion Stewart was supposed to be the bell cow for Bowling Green in 2022.

The running back from Sandusky appeared ready to deliver on the promise of his freshman year with the Falcons. In 2020, he rushed for 295 yards in just three games, including a 162-yard outing against Kent State and a 91-yard performance at Akron.

Stewart, however, announced on Twitter Sunday night he would miss the 2022 season “to focus more on my health and academic responsibilities,” removing Bowling Green’s leading rusher in 2021 from its 2022 equation.

Falcons coach Scot Loeffler declined to comment on Stewart’s absence but expressed well wishes to one of the most prolific offensive performers of his three-year Bowling Green coaching career.
