HOUSTON — Tennessee scored a try in the final two minutes to give the Volunteers a 21-15 victory over Bowling Green State University in the National Collegiate Rugby Division I-AA championship game.
In a game where the lead changed hands four times, Bowling Green struck first when eight-man Phillip Tracy scored a try 52 seconds into the contest.
Tennessee scored twice to take a 14-7 lead into halftime. Tracy scored a try at the 55-minute mark, warding off four defenders, but the conversion was off the mark to make the score 14-12.
Joey Apel put Bowling Green ahead with a penalty kick from the 45-yard line, scoring three points to make it 15-14 in favor of the Falcons.
