Bowling Green rocked by Tennessee in road opener

KNOXVILLE, Tenn — The Bowling Green State University Falcons knew that they would have a very tough test in their football season opener.

But they showed some signs that improvement has been made on this team.

Falcons quarterback Matt McDonald threw for 187 yards in a 38-6 loss to Tennessee in front of an announced crowd of 84,314 at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville on Thursday night.

“He looked ten times better tonight than he played last year,” Bowling Green head coach Scot Loeffler said after the game.

“He had one deal where he did the wrong footwork and missed a huge play, but he did his job.
