BOWLING GREEN — The Bowling Green hockey team earned a 4-4 tie against Bemidji State in its home opener on Friday before falling in a shootout after two overtime periods failed to produce a winner.
Gustav Stjernberg scored with 1:17 left in regulation to tie the game at 4 for BGSU. After neither side was able to find the back of the net in two overtime periods, Bemidji won the shootout on Adam Flammang’s tally.
Quinn Emerson opened the scoring for the Falcons in the first period, but the Beavers tied things up just minutes later.
Bemidji led 4-2 after two periods with Jeremie Minville scoring for the Falcons in the middle session.
