Bowling Green narrowly edges Division II opponent Fairmont State 91-89 in overtime

BOWLING GREEN — It won’t count in the win-loss column, but believe that Bowling Green State University has some ironing to do after Thursday’s exhibition game.

Cole VonHandorf’s 3-point attempt at the final buzzer in overtime sailed short of the rim, and Bowling Green narrowly escaped with a 91-89 win over Division II foe Fairmont State at the Stroh Center.

BGSU tied the game at 80 on Trey Diggs’ 3-pointer that hopped up and in off the front of the rim with 10.1 seconds remaining in regulation. Fairmont State was unable to get off a shot before the final horn, sending the game to an extra five minutes.
