ATHENS, Ohio — The Bowling Green State University men’s basketball team began its Mid-American Conference slate with a 68-58 road victory over Ohio on Saturday.

The Falcons built up a sizable lead midway through the game that was enough to fend off the Bobcats’ late attempt at a comeback.

Javontae Campbell had an excellent all-around game for BG, finishing with a team-high 19 points to go with seven rebounds and seven assists.

Sam Towns, meanwhile, finished with 16 points and eight boards in the win.

Jackson Paveletzke led Ohio with 19 points.

The first half featured plenty of back-and-forth action, with BG holding a 26-23 lead with less than seven minutes to go.
