Bowling Green hopes to finally end longstanding NCAA drought

BOWLING GREEN — On opposite sides of the Stroh Center, one set of banners is not like the other.

The women's basketball team at Bowling Green State University has filled the rafters with 13 regular-season championships and 11 appearances in the NCAA tournament, all since 1987.

The other side tells the story of one of the more perplexing droughts in all of college basketball, which becomes unavoidable every March.

The BGSU men's team has not qualified for the NCAA field since 1968, has never won the Mid-American Conference tournament, and seems to be followed by the Ghost of Tournaments Past every time it enters the postseason.
