Bowling Green hockey falls in overtime against Northern Michigan

MARQUETTE, Mich. — Northern Michigan’s A.J. Vanderbeck scored the game-winning goal just 3:47 into overtime as the Wildcats edged Bowling Green 4-3 on Sunday in a men’s hockey contest.

The Falcons (1-1), who defeated the Wildcats 6-4 in Saturday’s season opener, held a 3-2 lead at the 8:05 mark in the third period.

Austen Swankler scored a pair of goals sandwiched around an Ethan Scardina goal as BGSU came from 2-0 down after the first period.

Swankler scored his first on a power play, assisted by Dalton Norris and Spencer Schneider at the 10:50 mark in the second period.
