BOWLING GREEN — Nearly every Football Bowl Subdivision school who saw Scott Miller as a high school football player took one look at him and decided he was too small.
Miller believed he belonged in FBS, but the wide receiver began the playoffs during his senior season in 2014 at Barrington (Ill.) High School without a single FBS scholarship offer.
A handful of Championship Subdivision schools, including Colgate, Western Illinois, and national power North Dakota State offered Miller a scholarship.
What many of the FCS programs recruiting Miller could not understand is why they had no competition from anyone in the FBS.
