BGSU reinstating hockey coach Eigner after investigation

BOWLING GREEN — Ty Eigner was reinstated as Bowling Green State University’s hockey coach following an investigation into alleged hazing at an off-campus event involving student athletes on the team, the school announced Thursday.

Eigner was placed on administrative leave Sept. 16, and three players were suspended after the alleged incident. According to Eigner’s notice of administrative leave that was obtained by The Blade through a public records request, Eigner was placed on leave “pending a review of allegations of hazing involving hockey team members posing a substantial risk of serious physical harm to other players.”

A 1993 BGSU graduate and former player for the Falcons, Eigner has a 71-61-10 record in four seasons leading his alma mater.
