BGSU football comes up short against Akron, suffers 5th straight loss

BOWLING GREEN — Bowling Green State University came up short of ending its losing streak in falling to Akron 19-16 in a Mid-American Conference football game on Tuesday at Doyt Perry Stadium.

The Falcons fell to 3-8 (1-6 MAC) with their fifth straight loss. The Zips finished their season 5-7 (4-4).

After forcing a three-and-out defensively and taking over at the Akron 42 with 2:12 left, BGSU quarterback Hunter Najm threw an interception to Bruno Dall with one minute remaining. The Zips ran out the clock to clinch the win.

BGSU’s Jacob Harris caught a 21-yard touchdown catch from Najm to give BGSU a 13-9 lead with 3:53 left in the third quarter, but Akron responded on the next play with a 75-yard touchdown pass from Ben Finley to Israel Polk.
