BOWLING GREEN — A pair of Bowling Green State University baseball players are moving on to the Southeastern Conference.
DJ Newman and Garrett Wright are leaving the Falcons program for Tennessee, a team that went 46-19 this season and went to the NCAA super regionals.
Newman, a right-handed pitcher and outfielder from Archbold, finished his junior year with a .419 batting average. He had 25 starts between his two positions, including four starts on the mound, before his season got cut short by injury. He announced his move Sunday on social media.
