BG falls to Minnesota State WCHA semifinals

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Bowling Green State University suffered a 2-1 loss to Minnesota State in the semifinals of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association tournament at Van Andel Arena today.

Mitch McLain scored the only goal for the Falcons (22-14-6), netting a 6-on-4 power-play goal at 16:05 of the third period.

Brad McClure and Casey Nelson scored first-period goals for Minnesota State (21-12-7), which advances to the WCHA title game Saturday.

Chris Nell stopped 21 shots for Bowling Green, while Cole Huggins had 23 saves for the Mavericks.
