Yeovil 1-3 Bournemouth: Scott Parker's men progress to the fourth round of the FA Cup after Emiliano Marcondes' hat-trick sinks the National League side

There would be no invocations of the power of the famous old slope at Yeovil’s old Huish Athletic Ground, no memories of Alec Stock’s team beating Sunderland, the Bank of England team of their day, back in 1949 and no flash backs to sepia-tinged romance.

Back in 1924, Bournemouth were the first of Yeovil’s 21 league victims that they have knocked out of the FA Cup, a record for a non-league club, which explains their place in FA Cup folklore.

If there was a straw to be clutched at since their return to the National League in 2019 after relegation from League Two, it was that perhaps they might now add to this tally.
