FIFA has spent the past three years testing its new Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based Semi-Automated Offside Technology (SAOT.) It has now been approved for use at the World Cup in Qatar in November, but bar a fleeting appearance at the Club World Cup in February no one really knew what to expect.
