West Ham were missing their entire first-choice front three but Michail Antonio, playing as a makeshift right-back for the first few games of the season, appeared at the back post to head a late winner in their first Premier League match at the Olympic Stadium.
West Ham’s own sponsors Betway described Antonio as an ‘accident waiting to happen’ on Twitter when he played full-back against Chelsea on Monday night and he gave away a penalty that evening. But Antonio is also a goal waiting to happen when he is played further forward in his more comfortable position on the wing.
