'We hope that it's not too bad': Newcastle sweating over Callum Wilson's hamstring problem as Steve Bruce confirms striker will have scan after limping off the Magpies' 2-0 loss to Southampton on Friday night

Steve Bruce has confirmed that Newcastle striker Callum Wilson suffered a hamstring injury in Friday's loss at Southampton and is sweating over his fitness.

Wilson limped out of the Premier League match at St Mary's in the 78th minute as the Magpies were well-beaten 2-0 by Ralph Hasenhuttl's Saints - who moved to the top of the table thanks to goals from Che Adams and Stuart Armstrong.

The English forward has been a key member of Bruce's side since his arrival from Bournemouth and joins ex-Cherries and current team-mate Ryan Fraser as a recent addition to Newcastle's injury list.
