Leicester hope to appoint new boss THIS WEEK with Dean Smith holding talks and Scott Parker and Enzo Maresca in contention... while there is support for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Leicester are hoping to finalise the appointment of their new manager this week with the start of the new Championship season less than two months away.

The Foxes have been without a permanent boss since sacking Brendan Rodgers on April 2, with interim boss Dean Smith unable to keep them in the top flight.

Smith has held talks with club chiefs with Scott Parker - who won promotion with Fulham and Bournemouth - and Manchester City coach Enzo Maresca also among those considered.

There has also been some support for former Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer while former Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard was on the list but has now held talks with Saudi club Al-Ettifaq.
