Jermain Defoe reveals Netflix documentary inspired change to vegan diet that he insists is secret to playing at top level aged 35

Jermain Defoe has revealed he was inspired to adopt a vegan diet – which he credits for prolonging his career – by a Netflix documentary.

Defoe has three goals in 15 league appearances this season and, despite currently suffering from a fractured ankle, says he feels better now at the age of 35 than he did in his youth.

The Bournemouth striker puts that down to a radical change in his diet, which has seen him cut out meat entirely and eat mainly vegan meals at home, and it was watching Netflix documentary What The Health that convinced him to make the change.
