Callum Wilson reveals he is giving up 700-MILE round trips to see his family in a bid to make England's World Cup squad - and Newcastle striker admits the gruelling journeys probably contributed to past injuries

Callum Wilson has admitted he is avoiding gruelling 700-mile round trips to see relatives to maximise his chances of playing for England at the World Cup.

The Newcastle striker's family lives in Poole, Dorset on the south coast, leaving the 30-year-old with a gruelling and time-consuming journey to see them on his days off.

But Wilson told the Sun he will now move them up on Tyneside so he can work on recovery sessions when he is not due to be training.
