St Etienne have beaten Bournemouth and Birmingham to the signing of Dijon forward Lois Diony.

Both English clubs were keen on the 24-year-old, who hit 11 goals in 35 Ligue 1 outings last term.

Reports in France had suggested that a move across The Channel was on the cards this summer but he will now be staying in Ligue 1 after St Etienne agreed a deal with Dijon.

It is understood that the two clubs have agreed a fee of around £7m for the former Nantes man, who will now undergo a medical at St Etienne.
