This winter's top free agent infielders remain unsigned with seemingly little movement in any of their markets. The Boston Red Sox haven't helped matters — they've checked in on most of the top-tier infield free agent and trade candidates, but seem as indecisive as the rest of the clubs seeking similar reinforcements.
Reportedly, a reunion with Alex Bregman remains Boston's top priority, but a January 1 report from MLB insider Mark Feinsand suggests it's falling behind the Toronto Blue Jays and Arizona Diamondbacks in the race. The Red Sox have a few backup plans in play, but landing them won't be easy, either.
