Not a lot has gone right for the Red Sox during a 2025 season where the team has largely hovered around the .500 mark.
But Boston’s fortunes would be far more dire if it wasn’t for the presence of Garrett Crochet — who has exceeded expectations as the team’s sought-after ace in his first season with the Red Sox.
Following Sunday’s win over the Nationals, Crochet is 9-4 on the season, with the southpaw leading the majors in strikeouts (151) and tied for the big-league lead in innings pitched (120.1). He put himself in rare company against Washington — becoming just the fourth Red Sox pitcher to record at least 150 strikeouts prior to the All-Star break.
