The clock is good, but the rest of MLB’s rule changes are balk-worthy

It was a monumental week in Major League Baseball, and certainly not because the Red Sox won a game on just four singles and a first-inning run for the first time since 1914.

“Any time you can change speeds and quick pitch, slow pitch, hesitate, have the ball come out of your hand the way you want to, it’s a good day for the feel,” Rich Hill told reporters Sunday in Baltimore, the 42-year-old having shown guile that wouldn’t have looked out of place in the dead-ball era.
