Sox set Price's season debut for Monday

is scheduled to make his season debut Monday in Chicago against the White Sox, Red Sox manager John Farrell said Thursday.

The left-hander has not pitched in the Majors this season due to continuing soreness in his left elbow.

Price has not been great in two rehab starts, allowing nine runs (six earned) over 5 2/3 innings for Triple-A Pawtucket.

But Price's reputation precedes him, and the Red Sox hope he can pitch like the pitcher they signed to a seven-year, $217 million contract two offseasons ago. Price went 17-9 with a 3.99 ERA in his first year in Boston, leading the Majors in starts (35) and innings pitched (230).
