NEW YORK -- Not only was Dustin Pedroia again out of the lineup on Friday night against the Yankees, but there's a chance the second baseman could be headed back to the disabled list.
Pedroia is experiencing another flare-up with the left knee that has plagued him through much of the season.
"I wouldn't rule out the DL," said Red Sox manager John Farrell. "He's been consulting Dr. [Andreas] Gomoll back in Boston. We'll see where this goes over the next 24 hours."
Red-hot Eduardo Nunez, who was acquired from the Giants on July 25 to move around the infield for Boston, will continue to hold down second base while Pedroia is out.
