Silverman: Red Sox bats show kind of fire that could help warm October

Pitching’s important, yada yada, etc., but the Red Sox did something last night that they’re going to have do again — and probably again — if they want to stick around and play a lot of baseball in October.

They smashed the baseball around and out of the park, enough to make up for another early hole Rick Porcello dug for them and then some.

Leading the charge was Xander Bogaerts (three-run bomb, two other hits, four RBI) with an assist from Hanley Ramirez, who jacked a solo shot out of the ballpark in what was a 10-7 victory over the Blue Jays.
