The Red Sox face former No. 1 overall pick Casey Mize and the Tigers tonight at Fenway Park behind Martín Pérez (7:10 p.m., NESN).
Pérez, sitting at at 4.70 ERA on the year, is pretty much right where he’s been his whole career. He’ll look to get the better of a Tigers lineup that put up six runs in a losing effort last night but should, for the greater good, score fewer tonight, because it’s rude to mess up someone else’s house. Mize has been even worse than Pérez but is 24 years old and in his first real season—remember, 2020 doesn’t count aside from Mookie Betts #content.
