The Red Sox are already in the playoffs. Per Baseball Prospectus, they have a 95 percent chance of winning the division. Yes, Mookie Betts is hurt, but the Sox have bounced back from these (Extremely short! They’ve lost two in a row!) dry spells all year, much of those times during the long, fat middle of the season during which Mookie couldn’t hit a lick — provided said lick wasn’t 200 feet above the infield, that is.
The Yankees are playing well and, since Monday, the Red Sox are not.
