One of the centerpieces of a 2025 Red Sox blockbuster trade appears to be headed elsewhere.
Relief pitcher Jordan Hicks is being traded to the White Sox, according to multiple reports (first noted by ESPN MLB insider Jeff Passan). Boston is also sending right-handed pitching prospect David Sandlin to Chicago. In return, the Red Sox are reportedly getting minor league pitcher Gage Ziehl, per MassLive’s Chris Cotillo (who also reported that Boston will send “some cash” to Chicago as part of the move).
“Salary move,” noted Cotillo in a quick summary of the trade on social media.
