The Boston Red Sox placed outfielder Alex Verdugo on the bereavement list and catcher Reese McGuire on the 10-day injured list Thursday.
Verdugo, 27, is 20-for-53 (.377) during a 12-game hitting streak. He is batting .303 with five homers and 31 RBIs in 71 games this season.
He is hitting .289 with 49 homers and 232 RBIs in 580 career games with the Los Angeles Dodgers (2017-19) and Red Sox.
McGuire suffered a right oblique strain while swinging the bat in the sixth inning and exited Wednesday's game against the host Minnesota Twins.
