Red Sox Notebook: Matt Barnes tired of results

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Matt Barnes still was wearing a white button-down shirt, dark slacks and dress shoes yesterday at about 1 p.m., when most of the Red Sox were finishing a pregame snack and getting ready for batting practice.

Barnes was with Triple-A Pawtucket Friday night, hopped on an 8:30 a.m. flight to Tampa and showed up just in time at Tropicana Field to pitch out of the bullpen for the Sox yesterday. He shook off the exhaustion and took over for Wade Miley with one out in the seventh inning of a 4-1 loss to the Rays.
