The Red Sox don’t have a lot of top prospects on the cusp of making the majors. Mike Shawaryn, Josh Ockimey, Michael Chavis and Bobby Dalbec should be in the conversation at various points next year, but for 2018 it’s Lakins as the most exciting potential call-up. Middle relief may not be super exciting, but Lakins could very well make a big impact. After this latest outing, Lakins has allowed one run in 7 1⁄3 innings with nine strikeouts and three walks at Triple-A.
