The Boston Red Sox are in the market for starting pitching help before the trade deadline, and they should start looking fast. One of the best options expected to be on the market signed an extension with his current club instead.
Seth Lugo and the Kansas City Royals are finalizing a contract extension, first reported by MLB insider Jeff Passan. Anne Rogers of MLB.com later reported that the extension is for two years with a vesting option for 2028.
Lugo signed a three-year contract with the Royals before the 2024 season, which included a player option for 2026.
