Just as the Red Sox offense was gaining some momentum, the weather presented them with a brief interruption.
Constant rain at Fenway Park delayed the Sox’ series finale against the Cleveland Indians until around 9:20 Wednesday night, when the game was finally postponed.
It will be made up on Monday, Aug. 14, an off day for both clubs.
The Red Sox had won the first two against the Tribe, including a 12-10 walkoff win on Tuesday. They’ll resume play Thursday night against the Chicago White Sox, who are in town for four games.
Manager John Farrell said the rotation will stay on turn and simply be pushed back one day, leaving Rick Porcello to start Thursday night, Eduardo Rodriguez Friday, Drew Pomeranz on Saturday and Doug Fister on Sunday.
