Boston Red Sox fans are being pulled in two different directions when it comes to Joe Ryan. The Minnesota Twins ace remains a hotly desired trade target for fans (and perhaps for the team itself), but it remains a mystery just how available Ryan is, or ever was.
Once upon a time, also known as the final day of the 2025 MLB trade deadline, Ryan was confirmed by FOX Sports to have been traded to the Red Sox in a post to X that was deleted within a few minutes. Reporting blunder aside, the reality of Ryan remaining in Minnesota past the deadline was offset in Red Sox fans’ hearts by the apparent nearness of a trade.
