When Boston Red Sox 2024 second-round MLB Draft pick Payton Tolle started the season in High-A, few considered him a 2025 major league roster option. When Tolle got rocked to the tune of six runs on five hits in 1 2/3 innings in his professional debut, somehow less than no one was considering him as an option for the 2025 Red Sox roster.
The odds have drastically improved with basically every pitch he’s thrown since that April 8 start (which it should be noted was played in a legendarily hitter-friendly ballpark).
Tolle quickly turned into a dominant pitcher in High-A.
