Rafael Devers hitting fifth as Red Sox host Indians

Age doesn’t mean much to Red Sox manager John Farrell.

What he’s seen out of 20-year-old third baseman Rafael Devers through his first seven major league games has been enough.

Devers was bumped up in the lineup once again on Wednesday and was hitting fifth behind cleanup hitter Hanley Ramirez.

Devers, hitting .429 while reaching base safely in all seven games, has climbed from No. 9 to No. 8 to No. 6 to No. 5.

“Rafy has shown a lot of patience, a lot of emotional control,” Farrell said. “He’s shown the ability to hit many different types of pitching.
