PawSox owners begin summer tour of RI to tout stadium plan

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The owners of the Pawtucket Red Sox are kicking off a tour of Rhode Island to tout their proposal for a downtown Providence ballpark.

The "listening tour" begins Tuesday at the Smithfield Senior Center in Greenville.

PawSox spokeswoman Patti Doyle says the group plans to visit the state's 39 cities and towns this summer to hear what residents think about the proposed stadium.

The ownership group's original stadium proposal asking for $120 million in state subsidies was rejected.

The owners of the Triple-A franchise of the Boston Red Sox are still in talks with state lawmakers to develop a new proposal.
