DETROIT -- It is about this time of year when Major Leaguers really start to feel the wear and tear of a 162-game season. Especially for a 40-year-old like Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz.
Ortiz must not have gotten the memo, though, as he hit his 29th homer Saturday night at Comerica Park. He tied the record for most homers hit in a season by a player after turning 40. Ted Williams (196) and Raul Ibanez (2013) also hit 29. With his homer, Ortiz joined Williams (1,839) and Carl Yastrzemski (1,844) as the only players with 1,500 RBIs in a Red Sox uniform.
