Padres refusal to give up on Jarren Duran could help Red Sox in expanded 3-team trade

One of the constants of the 2025 MLB trade deadline — and the season, as a whole — is the San Diego Padres' reported interest in trading for Jarren Duran.

The Boston Red Sox have declined multiple offers for the outfielder, which have included rental pitchers for their second-half pursuits and top prospects for their future. So far, nothing has convinced the Red Sox to part with Duran.

With just hours to go before the deadline, the Padres acquired reliever Mason Miller and starter J. P. Sears for Leo De Vries, the No. 3 prospect in baseball, per MLB Pipeline, and three pitchers.
