After a string of effective bullpen outings, could Clay Buchholz get another opportunity in the Boston Red Sox rotation?
Buchholz was banished to the bullpen last month in favor of Eduardo Rodriguez, but Rodriguez was pounded for the third straight time on Thursday in a 5-1 loss to Baltimore, raising his ERA to 6.97.
Meanwhile, Buchholz has pitched five scoreless innings over his past three outings. Manager John Farrell elected to go with left-hander Roenis Elias as the fifth starter Friday against the Seattle Mariners, but has not committed to the back of his rotation beyond that, particularly with Rodriguez struggling.
