BOCA RATON, Fla. -- The issue of fan safety, specifically the installation of protective netting at ballparks, will be a hot topic next week at a meeting of Major League Baseball owners in Dallas.
"We're going to have a full debate -- maybe debate's the wrong word; how about conversation -- about this, and I don't want to prejudge the outcome beyond that," MLB commissioner Rob Manfred said today from the general managers' meetings at the Boca Raton Resort and Club. "But I do think a simple rule is probably difficult given the variations that exist in our stadiums.
