PHILADELPHIA -- The pitch that hit Mitch Moreland in the left foot on Tuesday night has left him with a small fracture in his big toe, Moreland said on Thursday.
The Red Sox’ first baseman was back in the lineup Thursday after sitting on of Wednesday's 7-3 win over the Philadelphia Phillies.
“I’m going to be able to play through it,” Moreland told the Herald on Thursday. “It’s one of those things you can’t do a whole lot for. Just try to make it comfortable until it’s gone.”
Moreland was hit by an 82-mph slider on the 12th pitch of a first-inning at-bat on Tuesday night, then went 2-for-5 while playing the entire 12 innings.
