Mastrodonato: Dave Dombrowski ahead of the count on his trades with the Red Sox

They call him Dealin’ Dave Dombrowski, and the easy assumptions about how he earned that nickname go something like this:

He’s a loose cannon. He’ll trade anybody. It’s win now or never with him. He’s a miracle worker who can acquire top talent, like a young Miguel Cabrera, one of the best hitters ever, and Chris Sale, one of the best pitchers of his time. But farm systems evaporate under his watch.

Like the fantasy baseball owner who has nothing else to do in the office and proposes 15 trades a day, Dealin’ Dave just can’t help himself.
