Lovullo: Red Sox will 'pull back' Eduardo Rodriguez' workload, but not shut him down

Even before Eduardo Rodriguez uncorked a pitch Sunday, he already had surpassed his career-high for innings in a single season.

Danger?

Not necessarily.

The Red Sox intend to limit Rodriguez' workload for the rest of the season, according to interim manager Torey Lovullo, but won't shut him down entirely. And after the 22-year-old rookie left-hander tossed seven solid innings in an easy, breezy 6-2 victory to complete a three-game sweep of the no-name Phillies, it's hard to blame them for wanting to see more.

"He's got nine wins right now -- I think that's second on the team -- and he came up in mid-May.
