To the few dozen diehards who blinked away snow flurries and stood outside Fenway Park yesterday only to get a glimpse of workers tediously loading boxes of equipment into a 53-foot moving truck, it hardly matters how many years in a row the Red Sox come in last.
But what about the rest of us?
Look, this is Boston and these are the Red Sox, so fan interest will always be significant. More than ever, though, especially during principal owner John Henry’s 14-year stewardship, the Sox have fallen behind the Patriots in the competition for our collective attention.
