John Farrell suspended by MLB for incident with umpire

John Farrell's heated argument with umpire Bill Miller has cost him.

MLB suspended the Red Sox manager one game and handed him an undisclosed fine. Farrell will serve the suspension during tonight's game against the Twins.

The incident happened in the seventh inning on Saturday after Sox reliever Fernando Abad was called for a balk.

Angels right fielder Kole Calhoun seemed to have called time and stepped out of the batter's box when Abad stepped off the rubber, but home-plate umpire Ryan Blakney saw it another way.

The call allowed Cameron Maybin to score from third (in a game the Sox lost 6-3), and Farrell was not pleased.
